History of Silampari Dance


Lubuklinggau and Musi Rawas is know as a earth of Silampari. SILAMPARI is from LubukLinggau language. SILAM is Lost (To the sky). And, PARI is Princess. So the meaning of SILAMPARI is The lost princess.

Silampari dance kayangan tinggi is a traditional dance from Lubuk Linggau. This dance is dancing by 7 woman and 1 man. This is welcome dance for a great guest, this dance come from Silampari Kayangan Tinggi story, and this dance developed in era 50’s. 





This is the story of Silampari : 
In ancient times there were seven angels who come down from heaven (the kingdom of heaven) to bathe in a lake, which at that time only there is a lake that still contained water, due to the long dry season. But unlucky for the youngest angel because he has lost the scarf was taken by a hunter so that he could not go home again to heaven. The young man named Bujang Penulup which means it is a hunter of animals that use tools quickly form tulup or chopsticks. Meanwhile, the youngest daughter is named Sringga Pisat. One time finding clothes that angel is masked by Bujang Penulup, then angels can go to heaven, but the single penulup see it, then he said "SILAMPARI" (Princess lost). Because women who want to return gradually disappear.

That’s the reason where come from name of Silampari. And why this dance is dancing by 7 woman and 1 man.
